Hey guys, whats up! I'm here to teach you the basics on how to wear a belt and what essential belts to buy. A belt is a must staple accessory in a men's wardrobe. And knowing how to wear one is just as important. Knowing how to wear a belt shows that you're a man who knows how to dress well. Well now that were done with introductions, lets move on.

Your Essential Belts

Your essential belts are the belts every man must have in their closet. There are two types of belt you must have in your wardrobe that will help you dress appropriately for any occasion. Not only that but we are going to address the color of belts every guy should focus on if they are trying to be versatile.

The Casual Belt

Behold, the casual belt. This belt obviously from it's namesake is used in casual situations such as, when you're grabbing a cold one with the boys or when you're taking that girl out to a movie date. So, you may be asking "Frantz, what make a belt a casual belt?". Well no need to ask any longer, because I'm going to explain exactly that. A way you can identify a casual belt is by looking at the width of the strap. A casual belt will usually have 1.5 inch wide strap. Another way to identify a casual belt is by the material it's made of. If it's made of any fabric other than leather such as, canvas it's definitely a casual belt. These belts typically go well with jeans or chinos

The Dress Belt

This, ladies and gentleman is the dress belt. This type of belt is used and formal situations such as, a going to your family member's wedding or (depending on the job) the workplace. You can identify this belt by it's 1.25 inch width strap. This belt is more of a conservative belt, meaning it can't be worn in any other fabric except leather if one wishes to dress well at a formal event. These belts typically go well with the formal dress pants.

The Two Color Belt Every Man Needs

The two color belts a guy should have in their closet is a black and brown belt. The reason for this is because these two colors are classic colors not to mention they are also versatile, which mean they can go with any outfit needing a belt (Don't try to wear a belt with joggers, I will hunt you down if you do). These color belts should be your go to for any events as they show off your style game.

How To Wear A Belt

Now, hold on. Just wearing a belt is not going to make you instantly stylish. It's how you wear it that shows off it's true potential. When you're wearing a leather belt you need to learn how to match leathers and metals. Specifically, leather belts to leather shoes (or boots). The color of the leather of your belt needs to match the color of the leather of your shoes and the strap of you're wearing a watch with a leather strap. The metal of your belt buckle needs to be the same as the metal that's on your watch.

For example,

Here we have perfect example. A brown leather belt with a silver buckle, a pair of brown leather shoes along with a watch with a brown leather strap and a silver case.

Another example,

Albeit a more unique example, here we have a blue leather belt with a silver buckle, a pair of blue leather monk straps shoes and a silver watch.
